MARCUS GILMORE 1A PLAYER OF THE YEAR All-State |
| Football | ||||
| Girl's Track | ||||
Coach Shawn Randel became the only coach in Colorado Prep history to win two state championships on the same night. In 2003 he coached both the boy's and girl's Eads Eagles basketball teams to state championships. The photo is a reproduction of the large image that hangs in the Eads gymnasium reminding future players of what can be achieved with hard work and lots of practice. FRONT: K. Gooden, Mgr., T. Coach Randel's boys returned to the state championship game in 2004 and tried to defend their crown from a year ago. Not even expected to make it back to the state tournament after losing the bulk of the 2003 team to graduation, the feisty Eagles managed to return but could not overcome the dominance of 6'7 Jake Trahern and the Kit Carson Wildcats. Eads and Kit Carson, only 20 miles distance from each other, have competed back and forth for years, but this would be the year that Kit Carson finally got their state crown. Eads dropped the contest by five points and went on to win the third place trophy. McClave would win the championship over Granada. Gilmore averaged 26 points in the tournament |
EADS vs GRANADA Eads grabbed a big conference win over the Bobcats on Sat. at home. Ryan Pelton fouls Demetrius Gilmore after the three and Dain Barnett brings the ball into point guard Kenan Gooden during fast-paced action. Marcus Gilmore scored a remarkable 42 points. |
EADS vs KIT CARSON This was a huge conference matchup between the two state finalists from a year ago. Eads got the advantage by ten, 55-45, behind 20 points and 15 rebounds from senior Marcus Gilmore |

EADS BEATS CW IN OT The six-year home winning streak nearly came to a halt on Friday night until Eads managed to pull out an exciting 65-56 OT win over 2A Cheyenne Wells. The win streak started in 1999. |

EADS HEADS TO STATE FOR 4TH STRAIGHT YEAR! The Eagles qualified for the 1A state tournament on Saturday by slipping by the District Runnerup Manzanola by a 50-33 margin. Eads is seeded 6th at state. |
| The Eagles came out ice cold against Manzanola and struggled any offense except from the free throw line. They would hit 10 of 13 down the stretch to win. Post Adam Saffer is pictured here hitting his second charity shot in the final minutes of the contest. Saffer was a huge influence for Eads on the boards. Eads now faces Community Christian in the quarterfinal round of the 1A tournament | REGIONAL CHAMPIONS: Eads qualified for the 1A state tournament for the fourth year in a row with the seniors going all four years of their high school career.
